Do you have any art you plan to use? I would start there for color inspiration.

I think a small entry rug perhaps 2x4’ long then at the end where it widens place a bench perhaps with baskets under it for shoes, scarfs etc. i would select black and white rug and depending on your taste place a large piece of art over the bench.

i like flo's suggestion. look for a runner under the rug section, and something 2' wide. I'd go longer than 4' because once you get it down, 4' really isn't that long.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Where the entrance widens is actually where to kitchen begins (appliances are hidden to the left), I've added a wooden bar table and black chairs that go up against the right wall in the kitchen.

The length of the entrance before it widens is actually 10ft now that I'm measuring it with tape. I'm picturing a 6ft runner at the entrance and then a 3x5 area rug in the kitchen (where it widens in the pic). Do you think the runner and area rug should be a set that go together? Any help with that would be great!

from tile to wood is 10'? or the entire run is 10'? you could always do a longer runner.

Two rugs would work better i think. A long runner would just make things look more tunnel like. The rugs don’t have to match but should have shared coloring. You want them to compliment each other.

For example. A runner with black and white or your choice of colors and a larger rug with similar colors and style. Modern/modern — traditional/traditional etc.
