Essentially you need to pick an undertone first, the grey second. She gives several examples for each undertone. Pick the undertone the corresponds with the majority of your fixed elements -- tile wood countertops fireplaces and general light exposure north south east west etc.

Behr Paint gets a bad rap but it's actually pretty amazing. They use way more pigments then SW and BM. they have four bases instead of two. That works for us anyway. but I guess you can figure out your undertone from this article and then go look at the Sherwin-Williams strips. look at the darkest end of a strep and it will give you an idea of the undertone that will show up in the lighter colors

. Otherwise I highly recommend following our Pros recommendation to paint the house white if you must, until you get it decorated. or have the Sherwin Williams color expert come to your house.

it's your house, paint it whatever you want. However yes, the common areas are typically painted the same one or two colors depending on the light exposure. additional rooms tend to have their own color schemes.

did you say Olympus white SW 6253? If so we loved that color strip but they are just too cold. They look blue in an intrusive way.

latitude isn't in my SW fan book. But anything with an lrv number under 62 is going to feel dark. If you want something that's just a super light gray I highly recommend SW eider white with an lrv of 73.

in most houses that will just give you just enough gray for now. it is considered a white paint so it really does just have a little bit of a gray undertone. other tones are really faded out by the amount of white in it.

But, neutral paint colors, those are the most complex. Your job is made Harder by the size of the house you are painting. I highly recommend having the SW rep come out and suggest some colors with samples to try. I think it's $100 and they give you a $50 gift card for paint. you will easily spend that much in samples and paint rollers. good luck in your new home!

SW Accessible Beige or SW Worldly Gray are often painted throughout a whole house. If you are painting the other rooms a different colour here are some options that 'go' with the above:

My house will be painted worldly grey in the main areas, accessible beige in the bedrooms and Silver strand or Sea Salt in the bathrooms. Sight unseen as it's a new build too.

This is my couch and rug in our living room now (this is not the room that'll be painted) but I would like a color that'll compliment our furniture. But I don't want to go dark. My master bedroom furniture is dark gray, as you can see below, (that's a stock photo of furniture, so the bedding and curtains and decor is not what we will have).
