If the walls are really lighter than the photo, several colors would work: navy, cream, white. Dark or light wood should be fine.

you can go natural and relaxed, a-la Serena & Lily..add whites, creams, linen colors, navy, natural fibers in fabrics..

you can do romantic, a bit old world-and go with whites and creams and maybe embellishments/embroidery on bedding or lace..or sway more colorful, get croshet or other patterns that will contain yellow-and other colors

you can add purples, like aubergine, and warm reds (brick, scarlet red)..add a bit of chartreuse..it can be more glam, or more bohemian

you can add all sorts of warm blues too..bold and can be more modern if you like it to be

you can add whites and blacks and it can sway Traditional or Art Deco, and read more luxirious.or have a country vibe too, depending on where you take it. Just always vary textures a bit-or else can fall too flat, two dimensional. the less colors you use-the more textures you need. but you always need something shiny, something rough, something soft, something hard, etc.

you can add plaid:) polka dots. stripes of course. abstracts. global patterns. florals!

where your heart lies? it's never only color, it's always color of...surrounded by color of..reminding you of..

pick almost any furniture color-should signal more your style preference and feel that yo're after, both dark and light will work with your walls. Don't go too red though(in stain). Hard to pull off. Otherwise you're free

look at different pictures(either search Pinterest or look through magazines and books, whatever works), think what yellow reminds you of (can be NYC cab-or forest in the fall, or..), think of what you want yor place to be, what movies you like even-what colors they had? What do you like to wear and why? If you go to travel-everything's beautiful, but what you choose when you can choose only one destination? A city, an island, a seaside, a countryside? Where are they?

Start with what you want, think whether can be pulled off in your apartment, enjoy the process-your colors will come together eventually as a puzzle

I used to have yellow walls for several years-I didn't pick the color. I truly had a blast with these, and it's not even my favorite color

Make sure though you have enough light-in the evening you want your yellow to be as nice..look for warmer lights(I forgot how these are called).

You have many options..choose whatever speaks to you the most, add/substract as you go, have fun!

Lots of different directions you could go. Do you have any art you want to use? I might start there. Alternatively, you could look through some design seeds color palettes and see if anything strikes your fancy.

I would lean lean towards dark wood furniture for contrast.
