Choosing chairs

Which chairs? The host chairs stay. The side chairs are in question.

I love the black woven seat, and they feel more simplistic on the legs
Love the contrast color of wood and style, but dislike the fabric, and don't like the ones that have the rush seat.

I find that sitting on a rush seat is uncomfortable.

I suggest you consider chairs that have the same side profile as your host chairs.

i like the wishbone chairs but i think the fabric is too bright for the look you have going on in your dining room.

I have these chairs from my kitchen, what about these? I initially wanted the wishbone, or something low profile, to have a simple feel and to show off the live edge on the table. Have an inspiration photo I went off. I think it's the fabric on the wishbone that I don't like. Perhaps if I order the same fabric from restoration hardware that's on the host chairs, and recover the wishbone, they'll look better? (*Don't want to get rid of host chairs, and can't use anywhere else, plus I really like them!) Here's my kitchen chairs as an option. And my inspiration photo using low profile side chairs.

    photo above: (kitchen chairs)
(pictured above): I feel the wishbone look better with a pillow until I can recover if that's what I do, and don't replace these chairs. What's your opinion? *also cannot use wishbone in kitchen with current table, until I purchase a new table, they won't fit under the table, so it looks off. Therefore, if I swap kitchen chairs and use in dining room, and use wishbone in kitchen I need to order a table for the kitchen In order to make that work.
(inspiration picture above): I ordered the wishbone chairs with the rush seats like this picture initially, but we thought the seats looked cheap so I bought a fabric option, but don't really like the fabric that came with. Over a year later, still trying to decide on chairs. Perhaps recovering will do the trick!?

None of them, including the those chairs, look comfortable enough for a leisurely meal and fellowship. Set aside a few hours to spend sitting in each of them for no less than 40 minutes and see what you think.

decoenthusiaste, I've hosted many meals in them and Christmas and Thanksgiving, so sat a spell in them. They are all comfortable, my main concern is the visual, because like mentioned, they are comfy, but I can't part with the host chairs, I like the look, I just can't decide on side chairs. I still love the look of my inspiration photo, but stuck on my wishbone chairs, I think it's the fabric, so contemplating another choice, but can't find something that speaks to me as much as the original inspiration photo. Thanks for your thoughts though.

Hope you find what you're looking for. If not, you could try the rush and then have special cushions made for them.

I love your inspiration picture and I love your host chairs - great look. If it were me :) I would go with the chair on the left and recover the seat. I think you should stick with your initial thought of following your inspiration pic - beautiful.

Hi Home Interiors!! I like the light buck skin idea!! I'll see what I can find. Was either thinking linen like host chairs which I can order yardage from Restoration Hardware, or something that resembles a rush look?

I'm doing great! Haven't been on Houzz in a long time. Still planning kitchen updates, dragging my feet because interested in moving walls to open up more, therefore can't make changes until I decide if I should go that route. Do not want to over upgrade current home though, so not sure what I'm doing.

    Hope you are doing great!!:)

Looks like I have 4 more votes for the black seated chairs than the wishbone. Hmmmm... what to do? I really like those and love the seats. They have a clean modern feel, they go more with the table, as in color. My main concern is, they feel more modern and match the table exactly, but the wishbone have a lighter contrasting woodtone that ties in with the woodtone in the blue sideboard, and plays into the lighter tones in the armoire' & floors. If the black chairs work with the sideboard I'd be inclined to choose those, I think it's the black woven seat I'm drawn to. Can't decide, but... they would stray me from my original inspiration room that I love. If only there were wishbone chairs with the same woven seat as these darker chairs.

Crazy I just don’t see the black with your room? I guess they are voting on just the two options given...so that might be why...because not to crazy about the fabric option....I would go lighter no question....

sorry for all the pics! Thought different angles might help. I found a fabric that is perfect in color and texture. It gives the wishbone a more weighty look in person. Still love the black seated chair too. I have wrapped the yardage around the wishbone as best I could to give a visual. If I cut it I can't return. I hope to make a chair decision by the weekend.

No question for me love the fabric..it just totally completes the space..open and light and allows the live edge to really show so much more...reminds me of your inspiration....right from the start.

Thank you Home Interiors, I think I'm leaning towards recovering!

The color is nearly spot on and I think doing a heavier fabric verses doing linen, will give the chair more weight. Really like the texture of the fabric.

Home Interiors, Wow, love them! Now I'm stuck again ;) and i bought fabric to recover. Ha

I like the wishbone chair. Its back lets the live edge of the table show the most.

I think covering the seat with a solid color linen to tie all the chairs together is a good one.

    Happy dining!

I can’t wait to see them recovered! Make sure to post a pic when they’re done.

Update! They are recovered, forgot to post it. used the fabric I shared above. Gives the chairs a weighty feel, the fabric is textured and having them the same color as the end chairs created simplicity I wanted. Now I'm not wanting to replace the chairs, I'm loving them. Funny what the right fabric will do for ya! Cost about $40 for fabric and staple gun! The lighting is bright due to sky light so hard to get a good pic.

Hey any kitchen update? Just returned from a European vacation..was so inspired by the design there....

Not yet on kitchen. I'm trying to decide if I should wait and up a wall, or leave it and update. Taking a wall down, requires taking an adjoining wall out, and moving a pantry and creating a large island. I haven't gotten pricing yet.

I do still like the soapstone, not sure if I want to do grey or white cabs. I love European kitchens! What did you come across?
