Floating water lilies

last modified: 8 years ago

I let my water lilies get out of control last year thanks to a warm winter and failure of even the tropical lily to go dormant. Now I have unattractive floating mats of roots and even the baskets are floating. On top of that, I have a pretty little seedling lily that has just started to bloom (white with pink tips and red edged leaves) that I would like to keep. Should I just let them go through the summer and then repot in the fall? They are blooming well now, even though I can't get to one of the pots for fertilizer and the seedling is not in a pot at all.

I had my knee replaced last year too. It's hard to garden when you can't kneel, but at least I can stand back up now!
