Can I assume you are in CA or did you get it mail order? Knowing where you are may be helpful.

Whenever next is a good time for transplanting in your area (here it is early fall) move this to an area where you don’t mind the height and put in a plant that is shorter. I know of no way to control height for Scabiosa beyond deadheading that won’t remove flower buds. I don’t believe you can chop them back like asters and they will be shorter.

Yes I am in San Jose, California. I just looked at "Annie's Annuals and Perennials" webpage and see the description of it and it does say it gets big! It is reassuring to talk with you and maybe others about my choices with this lovely but huge plant!

Annie, the owner of this fabulous nursery, has a huge selection of annuals and perennials available at her nursery and through mail order. I'm lucky to live not too far away so I can buy them from the nursery.

Ha! Consider yourself lucky. I love Scabiosa and have never been able to carry them through a season. They just get smaller and smaller until I finally yank them out. How do you keep yours healthy?

Those would be gorgeous in a mixed border with other tall plants. The white would probably “pop” such a planting.

i love Annie’s as well and have been waiting for a delivery. The plants are always well grown, a good size and fairly priced.

I didn't do anything to it except some deadheading (too many to do all of the spent blooms,) occasional water, full sun.

All you can do at this time is cut the dead flower heads (and associated stem sections) off, right above where another head is coming along.

Really very little water, probably once a week.
