If you notice the table in the second photo has an apron all around that prevents them from sliding under the table top and possibly getting scratched. You might want to poly them for additional protection.

It works for eating. The problem lies when people get up and push their chairs in. The angle is such that there will be wear on the top of the armrests. I was thinking about using this for along the underside of the apron for this table.

On a side note. Do you prefer the light or dark chair? The floors are very dark. That carpet will be adjacent in the living room...open concept. That is my chandelier.

Maybe you can place some-kind of soft strip under the table, where is would be fully concealed, so that when the arms slide under they are not in contact with the wood. Something like what you could use to protect the legs of charis from scratching the floors.

Just an idea.

hiccup4 - I am sorry to say, but I don't like those chairs WITH THAT table either. That table needs chairs that are in proportion to the table. They are NICE chairs, don't get me wrong, but they would do better surrounding a Scandinavian type table, rather than the grand features of this table.

I like the table as well, just not with those chairs, and vice versa. Maybe a chair like this? It comes in armless as well. It is 36" high. (Restoration Hardware")

That's not the same table, and even farther away from the one you posted.. It makes a difference.

The only true difference I see in all 3 samples is that there is a skirt in 'my' table and these 3 do not. The last one I posted has very similar trestle/pedestal as does the one with black wishbone chairs. Is that the only difference..the skirt on the table is lacking in the houzz photos? Or am I missing something entirely?

Yes, the legs/pedestals are all turned woodwork in the first two examples. The latter two tables have simple straight or unadorned legs.

hiccup, please don't take offense if someone doesn't care for the furniture pairing even if it exists in an on line photo. Combinations are subjective. Some people may prefer that the back of a chair be higher than the tabletop. I too like wishbone chairs for their light, informal design. If you decide to use them with this particular trestle style table that the chair arms will fit under, find a mcgyver to protect the wood where the surfaces might rub. Felt or cork or something similar attached to the underside of the table. If the arms will bang the table edge perhaps there is just a size mismatch between the table and chair.
