My suggestion would be straight line quilting in the center section, SITD so as to accent the center focus. Or just simple straight line on the diagonal. For the border areas, starting with the mountain majesty blocks, I'd do a meander. My experience with FMQ is limited, others with more experience will have more ideas!

I agree with Valarie. Limited quilting in the center so as not to detract from the piecing, then curvy FMQ in the mountain border (meander or loops). Maybe a row or two of serpentine in the outer blue border.

So pretty...it all goes so well, it looks like it was all planned ahead of time.

Is the narrow solid blue border a flange? To me, it gives a 3-D look to it and I love all of this! I think it would be a shame to draw away from the movement the center of the quilt is giving so minimum unobtrusive quilting in that area and then somehow carry on the movement via quilting to the edges. But, I only do simple straight line quilting so I'm far from an expert. :-)

Wow! It's just gorgeous! I'm a fan of straight-line quilting when the blocks are so interesting & seem to have movement all on their own. Can't wait to see the finished project!

Thanks, All. Sharon, the narrow blue border is a math fudge because I needed an extra inch for the delectable mountains to fit! The quilt is all batiks, scraps as much as possible.

I’ve started quilting the middle in the ditch. Unfortunately, because the last strip of this block pattern is wider, the diagonal lines don’t match up across the blocks.

Will take another photo when it’s done.

I agree with what everyone else is saying. My suggestions: Minimal in the ditch quilting in the center, dense border designs in the blue and aqua borders - serpentine or wish bone, straight lines along the ditch for the checkered border, echo the mountains inside and out, and a curvy filler in the white areas - spiral or paisley, light to medium design in the outer borders.
