Design Dilemma Flooring

Refinish small entryway

Hello,

We have old dark, oak hardwood flooring in the small area of the foyer. The rest of the house has new, light hardwood in maple finish. Is it a DIY to sand this small foyer to refinish in lighter tones to match? I don't expect a perfect match, but close. Should I get professionals to do it?

I would definitely have a professional come out to give you advice and an estimate.

I'd get the estimate too. For a small square footage, it may not be very expensive to get a pro. Renting the sander may not compare favorably with that cost, as well as the time and effort it will save you.
