I was thinking about hanging up sconces on either side of the window above the sofa. Do you think that would improve the proportion?

Also, I’ve been debating on the size rug I should get. What should the proportions be in relation to the sofa?

Those would have to be some pretty big sconces. I still think relocating the window would work best. As for the rug:

We definitely think lowering the TV will help. Also we like the idea of putting the window above the sofa on the small wall and just getting a piece of artwork for over the sofa.

I would paint the entire end table and the console dresser black remove the drawers/doors and replace with natural woven baskets; the doors read fussy country not farmhouse I think.

A fiddle fig tree/plant would be nice in your bare corner; the eye needs a place to rest.....oriental rug for the floor or Indian open weave design.......Pier 1 has some pretty styles right now!

Try three windows over your sofa; they need not match in style but need to cover 2/3 the width of the sofa and bottoms should be 5-12 inches from the top of the sofa.

clean lines lamps that are 28 - 30 inches tall would be nice too.

Some "rules" might help. 5-5-75 is a good general standard for hanging stuff. Center it 5' above the floor or with bottom frame 5" above furniture. Piece should be less than 75% of the furniture's or wall's width. The panel by the door is enough words for one room, but I'd move it to the right side where is isn't crowding the light switches. Bring the table from the front foyer area to put under it. Leave the small shelves where they are and try the mirror from the foyer 5" above them. Looks like you've re-purposed a dresser and night stand, and they aren't working. Remove the hardware and paint the dresser in an nice country pastel accent color, maybe chalk paint, adding new hardware. If everyone on the sofa can reach the coffee table, you don't need the night stand. Put a floor lamp there instead. Now, back to the foyer. Move your big mirror there. Get a floating shelf 25% wider than the mirror and hang them centered at 5' above the floor. Hang the faux window in place of the mirror, flanked by the tin sconces, and buy new art for the sofa.

So IMO the space needs some tweaking.

I have placed a floor lamp next to the chaise & some 3D wall decor on the wall. A large blue canvas on the back wall and changed your nightstand to a round end table and tall buffet lamp

Like the idea of moving the "window" to the wall beside the door and creating a different look over your sofa. Don't just settle for something to fill a blank wall. What are your hobbies, interests -- your passion -- make whatever you add above the sofa show your flair.

Definitely don't paint your furniture, even your tv console, black. From the room you've already created, clearly that dark a look is not you. Do agree that you should move all the items off the credenza and lower the tv.

Is that an empty bookcase to the left of your door? Have you considered moving your faux window to hang above it … turned vertically. (Repurpose the banner to a bedroom or hall wall.)

You might consider painting the inside of that bookcase -- or just the inside of the back wall -- your favorite bright cheerful color and painting your coffee table -- or just the top of it -- the same color -- perhaps a color from whatever art you eventually hang above the sofa.

Instead of using the bedroom dresser and nightstand in the room (no matter how you paint it, it will never look right) Look at Besta from IKEA for an inexpensive alternative for your media wall unit. You can link together as many units as you require and hang them on the wall.

We have the TV over fireplace installed on a Full-motion wall mount. This means that when not watching, it can be high and centered over fireplace, but we can pull it out, angle it down, sideways either direction, and even drop it down below mantle, so no sore necks!

If you lower the TV, you will need to patch and paint the holes in the wall left behind....Avoid the patchwork-look on your wall and buy a BIGGER TV. This is your excuse to splurge and GO BIG!

What you are using for storage under your TV is fine. It gives you storage and it coordinates in your room. Replace it only if you need more storage or glass doors (for remotes)

How do we feel about this change?

I have been wanting to get a new tv console and end tables, but I’m making small changes one at a time.

I think the big mirror would be way too big for my small entryway, but I am liking the idea of moving the entryway mirror over my small shelves on the other side of the door.

I have convinced my husband to lower the tv, now just waiting for him to have some free time to do it!
