This is a slow-growing plant which is volunteering happily at several places in my Westchester yard. I can't find any pictures like it on the internet. Here is a baby picture and more grown up picture - the radial symmetry of the inner rosette of leaves is quite striking. When it gets older, it gets a little leggy, maxing out at about 1.5 feet wide or so, and stays pretty low - maybe 8". In case it's hard to see in the pictures, the flowers have 4 petals and open flat, much like a bush poppy, but the bud looks orange when closed (and it closes at night). Thanks!
