Will the coconut be ok for worm bedding? Any reason not to use?

But, yes, you can use Cat Spot for vermicomposting bedding. It's basically coconut coir, shredded. It holds water well, and is lightweight. It doesn't have much in the way of food value, but worms like to swim in it. You might find that coconut coir marketed for cat litter is rather expensive, though.

Try to find it, say at Amazon, a nursery, or in a hydroponic store, if you have one nearby. I buy mine from Amazon in a heavily pressed cube and put it in water to fluff it up.

And personally, since this is marketed as cat litter, we've had cats, and I'd say that stove pellets is miles better for cat litter than coconut coir. Stove pellets used as cat litter are cheap (less than $10 for 40lb bag), is absorbent, and there is no smell. So, buy stove pellets for your cat (if you have one), and coconut coir elsewhere. Just my 2 cents.
