Brother Stefan is a handsome brute this year - still stretching out.

Jimmy Crack Corn surprised me - it has settled in I guess after being moved two years ago and is displaying "normal-looking" leaves this year.

Sagae#4 at left back, Winter Snow to right of it, and Guacamole Don (big one in front) were all moved earlier in May. The other big one going gold to the right is a sport of Frances Williams. Its size gets more impressive each year. It turns into a bright gold in summer....and the only hosta not moved in that grouping.

Key West is a small giant already...planted there temporarily two years ago.

Jujen, a sport of SC with rather rare availability. Margins are not visible whilst unfurling so it's a treat when they colour up.

Everything looks great Jo, Your JCC is lovely, mine faded away last summer, was a small little thing when I got it last spring, I don't have much success with the yellow/golds, still ya can't win them all. Your sagaes didn't miss a beat.

You are concentrating on the important things :-) Your garden looks wonderful! Squeezing as much pots as possible between the planted is also one of my favourite methods to make room for more hosta...

Good to know that you have your priorities straight. Of course, hosta photos come before any of those other things. I remember when you transplanted your Jimmy Crack Corn. It's looking really good! Your hostas and gardens are lovely.

Wow, your garden is stunnig. Your hostas are so big and beautiful. I must wait mine to grow, most of them are 2-3 years old. I also must greet my hostas after trip, first kids and then hostas, LOL. I love all your ripple edge hostas.

Ken, lol at your funny comment; but, there is really nothing else worthy to whine about..... as long as the hostas are healthy and happy! ;-). Hope you are enjoying your gardening season so far!

Jim, they sure look like twins! I will go out and measure Cold Heart for you. I'm curious too - it was a good size last year and begging for more space. Brb.....

Jim, I measured Cold Heart (2014):. 32" wide, 38" deep, 21" high. Thought I'd measure a leaf too... 14" X 11". It used to grow in front of QOTS but got its head hidden so I had to move it. I usually buy hostas I like whithout knowing their mature size... because if I did know their eventual size, I'd think twice about getting them. Lol. That corner area of mine has some of the biggies.

Sherry, thank you. So sorry, what a shame about GE :(. I have a smaller one too - it survived a transplant in 2016 (hallelujah!). Lots of sun, a bit shallower planting. If you get another, roast it in the sun if you have to, plenty of water, and don't worry about it. Mine always do better in more sun - and they don't burn. They may not have as large leaves than ones growing in shade but what they may lack in stature, they certainly gain in vigour.

Saija, another year or so and you will be so amazed at the size of them! This "sleep, creep, leap" phrase regarding hostas still doesn't prepare you for the "leap". It is just amazing how gorgeous they are when mature....and you have awesome space for yours.

Popmama, happy you enjoyed my pictures. Good point about the intensity of sun in your area. We do get some really hot days but low 30's is the exception here, rather than the norm. I really enjoy mixing the unexpected and experimenting with textures and colour. With shade being a premium in my yard, I have little choice but to grow hostas in a fair bit of sun.... rubbing elbows with all the other sun loving perennials. Now that the hostas are settled, their roots run deeper and cooler than when they first were planted and the plants are stronger, more vigorous. The odd one may get a leaf or two sunburned but even that is becoming a rarity. You watch now that I've said it, I'll have ugly hostas this summer! Lol

Denis, a big HI there and good to see you posting! You were missed, laddie! Sorry about your JCC :(. I had similar troubles with Sun Power (I think it was a TC weakling) but it finally took after I stuck it right in the sun. It actually looks like SP now...but smaller version...after what? maybe 5 years???

Thanks Jo..it's not easy to decide which hostas are special when ALL of them are appealing..but some of them just catch the eye..Great Expectations can look so great!..I hope to do some planting by the stones soon..I worked on my annuals in pots yesterday..always too much to do right?..

Yes Jo we wait so long to see our gardens spring to life but when they do we know why it is worth the wait. Wow! Everything is popping. Your beauties were ready for their close ups and the garden is looking very, very good. I can't even pick a favorite because they all shine!
