Lure bees to my strawberries

last modified: 8 years ago

We have a huge Raspberry bush in the backyard and there are tons of bees there when the flowers bloom. I have some Strawberry plants about 6-10 feet away on the deck in a self-watering, raised garden bed. I'd like to lure the bees over to my Strawberries. I put 3 pots with flowers on the deck railing above the planter hoping they'll lure the bees over but I haven't seen any. They are one Hawaiian Punch Hibiscus and two Rio Dipladenias which have blooms but I haven't seen any insects near them and to me they don't really have much of a smell.

I know I can hand pollinate the Strawberries but I'd still like to encourage the bees to pop by every now and then. Is there a way I can draw them to the Strawberries? Am I worrying too much? Maybe they are coming around but I just never see them. But then I think there are sooo many Raspberry flowers for them, why would they fly over for a few Strawberry ones?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!
