[Poll] Repainting Bookshelves and Desks...Ideas?

I made the mistake of purchasing these a few years ago. They both have black, metal frames and black, opaque glass panels; and really darken the room they sit in.

Repaint the frames! Comment what color suits the panels.

Honestly, just give up.

Cover the surfaces of the metal structure with sheets of magazine pages soaked in liquid starch. It will produce a very interesting and visually intriguing effect. You can always update it from time to time by applying new visuals from magazines. Once the surface dries up it can be easily peeled off - no damage done =). Try it

Build a new house with a room for them with white walls, white ceiling, a light floor, and lots of non-north facing windows.

They're more modern than I like, but I don't think they're bad at all. Gold/brass is hot right now, but if you paint, it could turn out bad (maybe find someone professional to paint them). I would just accessorize with things that brighten it up if you want something lighter looking.
