Master bathroom remodel

This is a sketch of our master bath layout. We are currently doing a total remodel on our house. Our current master closet is too small to be used practically. So my plan is to expand the closet by a foot to allow walk space. Beyond this, I am lost as to how to best use the space and be as inexpen as possible. I am removing a useless 2ft by 9ft closet that opens to the bedroom, thus the space between the upper wall and the current plumbing.

My goal is to put in a drop in tub, walk-in shower double sinks, toilet, and if possible, a small linen closet. The plumbing is not an issue to move, I am just hoping someone can provide some insight or guidance.

If you are doing a total remodel, this is a question for your architect.

The rest of the house has been planned and all that is left is my bathroom. Basically it is just figuring out a layout that is functional and looks nice.

i’m stuck on how a 9-foot closet could be considered useless!!!

It’s actually 13.5 ft long but was only 3.5 ft deep. The shelves and hangers in there made it you claustrophobic to use the end next to the bedroom. I already have the new organizer planned out which will allow more usage and the walk through will allow better use of that end. Have any suggestions for bath layout?

And the 2x9 “closet we are removing is not even deep enough to put hangers inside and shut the Door without the hangers hitting and with the 30 in door there that was the only space I could use. The rest turns into wasted space/a junk hole. It is just being unused space.

oh yeah, 30" door is a disaster.

impossible to advise on bathroom with only the given information.

    (1) redraw with final intended walls

    (2) indicate which "current plumbing" is the toilet, as that is $$$ to move and will affect the placement of other things

    (3) we need guidance on your goals. style? features? giant shower, or must have a soaking tub; double vanity or single, tons of storage or the basics; separate space for toilet or not fussy, etc. there are lots of ways to make a master bath, but no point in coming up with a generic solution when you know your own needs and wishes! do you have an ideabook of looks you like?

Thanks for that input ACM. Because of the condition of the home we are having to rerun most of the plumbing anyway so that is an expense that we have to payout anyhow. The only true splurge I would like is a walk-in shower which I plan to tile. I have no idea how big I would need it, but I am guessing about 5ft deep by 7 ft long? I was thinking a glass door and maybe some of the glass blocks to allow natural light.

As for the tub, not picky at all. Was thinking about using a slightly deeper than standard tub. We are both big on showers, but a nice bath in winter time is a bonus. I will try to post a few photos of some ideas shortly.

I think my problem is it is a large space in comparison to the other 2 baths I have already done and they were space saving get-every-bit-out-of-every-inch type of designs. When I have space I am almost lost.

As for the toilet, it is exposed now with just a wall separating the tub and the toilet. Does it need to be in a closet with a door? Nah, but a little separation don't hurt. I would like a double sink and maybe a small vanity area. I have 3 boys and 2 girls and they seem to always multiply when there's no school and I end up with a dozen teenagers at my house who just want to congregate in my room for whatever reason.

I will also post a few drawings that I did and explain the issues I am having and maybe you can give me a few tips?

    damiarain great idea!

Wow that is an idea I hadn't even thought about. It would dampen the sound into our bedroom, and we would need to insulate the wall in the closet that is shared with the dining room. Now you got me thinking. I actually played with a site this afternoon but the measurements are all in metric and I couldn't find a way to convert it to imperial

. That layout is one I thought may work and wanted to get some input. I liked this plan too, but dont know if it would work well in my space. The wall with the sinks is kind of odd in my opinion, but I could always put a linen closet against the outer wall, then my closet door, then the long vanity. up to the bedroom door.

Here were some pics I found of walk-in showers that I liked. I seem to favor the doorless options more so than the ones with doors.
