New Growth (trial post)

I've been reading about everyone's troubles posting, so I thought I'd give it a try to see how hard it is.

So I bought several new roses this year. Usually with new ones I find that they just kind of sit there for a while before deciding to do something. Things are finally happening.

White Cecile Brunner, Red Radiance, and Madame Cornelissen have new growth started--and hopefully their first buds won't be far behind. (It's always so exciting to see this happen, for me, anyway.)

Yolande d'Aragon put out a tiny bit of new growth a few weeks ago, but no buds. Not surprised since I think this is a poor repeater when a youngster and in a hot climate.

Roseville Noisette is a sad one. I got it as a one gallon, and it looks to have croaked. Not sure what happened. Seemed fine one day, and the next it was all brown. I'll hang on to it to see if it might put out new growth from the roots. Can always get another if it doesn't.

It looks like it posted just fine, Bellegallica. Unless you also attempted to attach images. :-( Carol

No pictures. I might post some if I get some flowers. I guess that will be my next adventure with the "new and improved" Houzz.

It's gotten a little easier to get back. The "Featured Topics" (when you're not signed in) at the left are in alphabetical order, and luckily Antique Roses is near the top. And when I'm signed in, it looks like it's keeping track of most visited forums under the "Your Topics" heading, again at the left.

Thanks, Lisa. I really like the ruffly, carnation like look of Madame Cornelissen. I've often admired Yolande d'Aragon in pictures, too, and finally decided I had to see that one in person.

I had grown Roseville Noisette before, but gave it away when I was making room for something else, but decided I wanted it again. I also have Nastarana new this year so I still have a noisette. I may get another Roseville from Burling in the fall if she restocks.

I'm so anxious for flowers on all the newbies.

I loved Madame Cornelissen when I had her, but I think her spot was too shady and she began to deteriorate when Burgundy Iceberg gave blackspot to everyone in its vicinity. It has a rare charm and somewhat different look that I enjoyed very much.

I lost my Roseville Noisette, too, bellegallica. I don't think I got it established enough before the heat hit. :(

Thanks, Ingrid. From what I've seen and read, it looks like Madame's blooms can be variable, sometimes notched and ruffly, sometimes more rounded like SdlM. I'm sure I will like both. I like the subtle coloration, too.

I'm sorry to hear about your Roseville, needmoremulch. I think it's a pretty sturdy rose in general, so maybe we just had some weak cuttings? Mine was still in it's gallon pot as it was still quite small. We both just need to try again.
