WHY, Houzz - what were you thinking? Bring back GardenWeb, please!

I can only assume the management of Houzz wants to make more money flogging stuff, instead of supporting home-owners and renters who want to ask questions about all manner of domestic concerns in depth. GardenWeb is - WAS - the perfect setting for this.

But instead, it appears you've canned the whole thing, which will do nothing for your readership, and everything to drive us all away.

Instead of trying to compete with FaceBook and other similar social media options, why not be an industry leader, and listen to your subscribers instead of ignoring us?

You do realize that most of us live in houses, and need stuff fixed, replaced, renewed, etc, and if we're not browsing GardenWeb via Houzz we certainly aren't going to bother with the rest of Houzz, so there goes the bulk of your all-important buying public that you flog to your professional subscribers with one swipe of your mighty hand!

Hi Bubblyjock,

I appreciate you posting. The intention is not to kill off GardenWeb. The changes made recently to the community are not meant to harm it. Houzz is a very large site with a lot of different components, and it does go through updates from time to time. This area has not had much change since GardenWeb was brought on board.

There has been a lot of productive feedback around the most recent changes and that is great! We are absolutely listening. There have already been some changes made and we are working on other adjustments to make it more comfortable as a result of the feedback given by the community. It does take time, however to make some of the adjustments that have been raised by the community.

My hope is that on balance, the value you find with the community here will outweigh the frustration over new features, especially as more adjustments are made to the forums to make them easier for you. There is no nefarious intent here.

I can't see the list of GardenWeb discussions. My topics aren't in alpha order. *I cannot create a new post.* Not even one with NO photos. The pages are crowded with stuff I don't want to see and features that are useless to me and very annoying. I'm not able to communicate with the community. Long-time members are departing for other forum options. Houzz may not have nefarious intent but it seems to be destroying what we've had here, intended or not. How about returning things to their former state rather than drive away your users with this incredibly inept attempt to "upgrade" Houzz?
