Micro IR LED visible with digital camera?

I'm trying to figure out if some mini/micro IR LEDs are working. I know I can see the IR light on (for example) my tv remote using the camera on my phone. I don't see anything with these mini/micro IR LEDs. The IR lights are on the same strip as red LEDs which are working fine. Are the IR's just too small to see? Any other way to test them?
