Thanks, Jayme! I'm pretty happy with how things turned out. Next winter.... the BASEMENT!
@kimdee, love it! That FP is awesome.

FYI-Home Depot has sales on all their Herbs-3 for $10 and plants are also on sale too.
Can someone look at Angela's thread and tell us what the plants in front of her house are called, the ones with the red and green leaves?
See the little numbers in the lower right hand corner? The ones that say 112? That's the temp in my backyard right now! And that's not even a record, last year it hit 113 for two straight weeks! Everywhere I go I leave a little puddle :((

Night all, see you tomorrow :)

Thanks, Eztia! I am happy that it's all done and now I can just enjoy it!

    Thanks, Judy M!

Bobbi -- omg, that is stinkin' HOT! That is 44C!!! I can't even imagine, I've never been in temperatures like that! 33C (91F) is a HOT day in Edmonton, and it doesn't happen that often or for any stretch of time. I would be puddling everywhere too... hope you can find a way to stay cool.

    Yikes Bobbi! That is hot!

As I get older, I have less tolerance for being out in the sun. When I was younger, I could pretty much handle anything, but now I need water, shade and air movement. Give me a shady spot outdoors with a nice breeze and a cool drink, and I won't object as long as I don't have to actually do much physical labor. Just don't make me stay inside because I absolutely can not handle hot spaces without any fresh air.

STK -- I only just now saw your comments about golf, way back 14 hours ago! A 3 handicap is pretty awesome, I can only aspire to that someday but I'll be happy if I could get it below 10. I'm a 12 currently, brought it down 4 strokes last year, but am struggling a bit this year to hold it. Lanny and Danny Wadkins -- you got to play with some interesting people, no doubt! You know -- there is a gentleman at our club who, a couple of years ago, had a hip replacement and he's out there every day now playing and feeling good. Hope you can get back in the "swing of things" soon... it's a good sport for a lifetime...

bobbi i can not imagine how opressive that feels. breathing must be difficult . amazing you're able to keep your sense of humor. maybe you could fill the bath tub with cool water. keep a bucket of ice cubes nearby to add as needed. then kick back and relax with those new decorating magazines you bought.

oh that reminds me... look for great home magazines at habitat restore if you have one nearby. they're 10c ea.
that's usually what i pay for them at garage sales too. buy a big stack, enjoy, pull out what you like and then give them away.

All ready to go. Got my carbs in tonight to have energy for tomorrow. I just want to finish. I don't care about how long it takes.

Wish me luck! Will post a pic from after the race tomorrow!
Good luck Robin! What time does it start?
I race at 09:30 but events run all day.
Good that you won't be racing in the heat of the day!
    Good Luck Robin. You Rock
Angela - I think you'd be proud. It's an intense obstacle course designed in part by a marine.
Believe you me Kimdee - I am eternally grateful that my friend wanted to race early in the day. Gonna be a hot weekend!!
I am looking forward to it! Four days of golf and some much needed sunshine, can't wait!
I know about it, I had followed it on Facebook
  • 13 years ago
My new couch is comfy... I think I'm going to live in this chaise.
good luck in the race robin.

Just got back from the fair...I was so irritated to see a poor goat that was starving to death at the petting zoo....Hip bones protruding, all ribs showing...being pushed out of the way by the others..I reported it to the "attendant" slash corpse taking money..pretty much didn't care. Fed it 3 cups of feed and had to distract the others from stealing it all...I am going to try to find out who I can report this to tomorrow, trouble maker that I am.
I would do the same, Jayme. Whyyyyyyy... makes me crazy.
Question -- why are my glasses always so filthy? Seems like I clean them 4039485 times a day.
    Q-U-A-C-K!!!!

This is getting ridiculous, so far our wettest June for 6 years, but with another day and a half to go I'm sure it will better that. Sun now promised for next Thursday and Friday.................. we will see, that is what they said last week about this week. We have a low pressure system sitting just off the coast that has made itself too comfortable.

I am now stranded at home too - DD went out to dinner last night, taking my car and the window fell into the door frame, nothing like an open window in pouring rain although fortunately I do have a weathershield but I can't go anywhere as I can't lock the car.

KD, those chaises are deadly. I had my lounge made super firm and high to let me get on and off it easily, but I didn't factor in the comfort of the chaise. No wonder I fall asleep in it every night.

Robin - good luck in your race - I know you will do us OLLDs proud.

Bobbi, don't you dare melt away, we need you too much.

DD and partner wandering down sometime this afternoon, we have all had a slothful morning in bed watching movies on the iPad with the kids - what else do you do in this sort of weather!!! House looks like a Chinese laundry with wet clothes everywhere so better get moving and get some order established.

@kimdee...A few other animals were too thin also...a large portion were healthy looking, but the attitude of the attendant is what really ticked me off...he was obviously irritated that I had the nerve to mention it.
Jayme, here we have laws against cruelty to animals with pretty tough penalties. Try your local Police. Otherwise do you have an animal protection society?? Ours here acts to confiscate the animals, get them back to health if possible and adopt them out to responsible homes.

KD - know that horrible dirty glasses scenario. Heat doesn't help either. It is all the oils from your face that does it and the heat from your body only makes it worse. I got some special disposable wipes from my Chemist and keep them in my handbag at all times.
The attendant could be a general dogsbody and is responsible for caring for the animals too so of course he wouldn't like you commenting. Call the cops!!!
Hi Roo..Hope u guys get some decent weather for a change!
    Robin..best of luck..you'll do great!
I googled sarcroiliac joint dysfunction and there were exercises to do to help..You basically grab your own butt cheek and pull upward, walking twenty paces...repeat holding other butt cheek. It helped, and I looked pretty dumb doing it!!
@roo...I think I'll call the humane society tomorrow and see what they say. Our town is sponsoring this fair, so there should be someone associated with it that I can notify. IDK if the animal was old or ill or what, but it was painfully obvious it was malnourished. I took a few pics with my phone too.
jayme, you can try the sherriffs office. they're over animal control in many states. also the local humane society. the agriculture dept should inspect fairs but you probably can't reach anyone til monday. please do something for the poor little ones. they're defenseless and at the mercy of the humans so we have to step in for them.

i firmly believe there is a special place in hell for anyone who abuses or neglects animals and children.
having said that. hell can wait. the animals can't so something needs to be done to these fools here on earth!

@Diaspton...thanks....And I suppose the shady outfit will pull out of town by Monday...but I can make some noise to the fair officials at least....I did take pics. You could see his hips bones, ribs, vertebrae...I know a malnourished animal or person when i see one! I am just ticked.

I agree... (about the special place in hell).

I must touch my glasses or something, there are always fingerprints or smudges on them.

My SI joint acts up now and then. It is literally a pain in the ass.
Kimdee...our next sofa will be a lzyboy too!

Jayme -- so worth it! The one that went downstairs is like new, still after 6 years.

Time for bed I think... if I can haul myself out of this chaise. Maybe I'll just sleep here tonight.
@ Kimdee..HA !! Yes it is..and it was going down my leg too! Couldn't sit or lay or anything...So I literally lifted my butt cheek up and walked and it helped..I was amazed..then we went to the fair where and walked and walked and it still isn't back to the throbbing pain..This guy has 3 videos and I only did the first exercise...
There is a belt you can get that basically wraps around your hips tightly and pulls things together. I haven't tried it but I hear it helps.
First of all... before I read anymore! Robin! I am so proud of you! (yes, I am probably, maybe, maybe old enough to be your mom)... You are just so awesome!....
Kimdee... yet again, I am blown away with what a great job you have done with you home! It is just beautiful!
    A homeowners dream!
Jayme... you need to find out who the owners are of the goats... Then turn them into the local animal protection services you have in your area... Hey, in case you haven't heard, Seattle is the goat rental service... LoL
Well, not only Seattle, but it's pretty much all over the state... Goats are rented out to eat all the undesirable plants that one doesn't want.... God only knows I could use one now...
Jayme, I wouldn't mess with the Fair Organisers, come Monday it will be out of sight out of mind to them and they can easily take the attitude that they have enough on their plate and it falls into the too hard basket. Go to the top - immediately, start with the Sheriff - they are available 24/7!!!
@oldroo...called the Humane Society...they advised law enforcement..so I did do that!! Thanks!
@jayme. GOOD!!!! I am glad someone knew how to advise you!
