Who ate my sunflowers?

I live in the city with a small backyard garden. Most of my garden is fenced in, except for a corn patch with a row of sunflowers. These sunflower were about 12 to 14 inches tall already. Just noticed that something ate them all. The corn, about 8" tall untouched. This is my 5th year gardening here and nothing has ever eaten them before. When I lived out in the country, I had deer mow down my garden. I have never seen any deer here in the city. Yes, an occasional skunk and plenty of rabbits and squirrels, Who ate my sunflower plants?
