Exactly. Most important are the sizes of walkways around the island and why the big posts.

Thank you ladies for the responses questions. The posts are not big (they are the same height as the current island, but they do come out one foot seven inches (which we can - if advice recommends it - make it shorter. As mentioned above, the walkways are well within the kitchen guidelines and criteria.

Also, might be worthy to mention that the new countertop will cover the entire surface of the new island. :)

The 12” wings are way too large and restrict seating. You can’t fit more than 2 stools. You lack intermediate support in between the posts, that then also is tied into the cabinet rears.

This is not a good design on multiple levels.

Hi Sophie - thank you for your response.

The kitchen is a little over 16 1/2 feet by 9 1/2 feet.

The reason the posts are 12" wide is because of the extension on either sides. We are coming out one foot on the right side of the kitchen and then extending it out to make a post.

I would love to share pictures, but unfortunately am unable to do so.

Provide better measurement of the space as a whole, the island in specific, and pictures of the space. As has already been requested.
