New Cambria Quartz Color Skara Brae

I’m installing white shaker cabinets and using antique brass hardware (Lugarno pulls from RH). I was almost settled on Cambria britannica for the counters but recently came across Cambria Skara Brae. Has anyone seen this color? What are your thoughts on this new design with white cabinets?

I would always recommend if you are using more than one slab of Skara Brae have Cambria make sure the slabs work together for your project, go see your slabs, and approve a layout before the fabricator starts cutting.

@Cambria What backsplash do you recommend for Camrbia Ella? I have SW Pure White Cabinets and am installing Cambria Ella polished. I can of course use simple 3x6 white subway but am looking for alternatives.

Hi cameronaw, we recommend checking out these spaces by Kate Rumson, Jen Pinkson, and Amanda Giuliano for inspiration. Hope this helps!

I ended up running Skara Brae down the backsplash. Love how it turned out.

SAM GOH what color did you use for your cabinets?

Wondering if this countertop will go with my kitchen and bathroom remodel. Cabinets will be alabaster, floor is rustic bay, white subway on bathtub walls. Angora herringbone for shampoo nich. Was going to use Taj Mahal but just found this thread. The floor and cabinets aren’t installed in the kitchen yet.

Becky I think it looks good but the sample piece is so small it is hard to tell.

The small sample is Taj Mahal. which I love but not sure it’ll go with the floor. Wondering if Skara Brae would go or if its to bold for my choices.

In the process of ordering from Cambria. We originally planned to go with Brittanccia but they suggested looking at Skara Brae and we loved it but now I'm wondering what colour the lines really are.. In Some pictures it looks to be white with grey and light taupe tones looking nice with grey cabinets and some pictures it looks dark and has dark brown tones with a creamier white... HELP...what colour is it? I understand every slab is different but in general is it In the brown family or in the greys? Thanks any help!

@Kat Gardner there are both greys and browns in the skara brae - I would say some slabs are warmer in tone than others. We recently put it our kitchen and love it!

@lukmardan3 would love to see a photo

If you love Skara Brae, be sure to color match to your slab(s) as the shading can vary and Skara Brae can come off as being colors it is not, especially regarding grays and whites.

FYI, Skara Brae is now available in thin slabs and also in bookmarched slabs.

Any recommendations for a white subway tile that goes with Skara Brae? The samples all seem too bright white?? Thx

We went with the matte finish on both the Skara Brae and white subway tile.

What looks better the high gloss or Matte finish?

I also am having a difficult time finding a backsplash that blends with Skara Brae. I have an 11’ island with skara brae contertops on slate cabinets. The other countertops in the kit is Arctic White.

@trichter61 I am doing an 11ft island with slate cabinets as well. Do you have any pictures? How deep is your seating overhang?

@lainer000 Can I ask what size subway tile you used?

@michelle Linden- I’m still waiting on my cabinets to be installed. They are on back order but will post pics ASAP.

    Hello all,

Overhangs on breeakfast bars should never overpass the 250mm mark when the worktops are done in 20mm and 300mm for those who prefer to have the tops done in 30mm. take into cosideration that 200mm overhang gives a confortable knee space. Many thanks. any questions welcome!. The team of MY KITCHEN WORKTOP.

My overhang is 15 7/8”, but the seating area has cabinets supporting both ends of the span and also steel supports sandwiched in the span. Still not recommended to stand on the overhang, though (e.g. to install lighting). I didn’t want people kicking my cabinets while seated…

We used Daltile Modern Hearth 3x12 MH06 Chimney Corner for the backsplash to go with Skara Brae countertops

    It sure does.

What are your cabinets? They look the same color as mine.

I think the cabinets are Mastercraft? Know for sure that the color is Molasses Finish on Cherry Wood

    Love this look!

Just discovered this color - was wondering if anyone would mind sharing a ballpark price on what you are paying per slab?

  • PRO

It's not usually priced per slab to consumers, it's priced by the square foot. I'll bet your fabricator is paying $40.00 psf for the slabs, so you're probably going to pay triple that with fabrication and installation.

Ah thank you! I had set my heart on a quartzite, but it cracked leaving the stone yard, and the only replacement slab they had would have drove my total up by quite a lot. So now I’m scrambling looking for anything to replace what I had picked!

We paid $130 per sq ft for the skara brae and a lot less for the artic white.

This is what our finished product looks like. Skara Brae is very costly but oh so beautiful!

Trichter61…That view outside your window is gorgeous. Perfect sight line from the kitchen.

    Thank you. 😊

Trichter61 - What quartz did you use for the perimeter to complement Skara Brae on the island?

Artic White. It’s less expensive than Skara Brae and I wanted my island to be the focal point.

What brand is Artic White quartz. Love the idea of that on perimeter. Thanks.
