A simple candle sconce like the one in the pic or a hanging lantern sconce like the ones sold at pottery barn.

Not every wall in the house needs something there is much to be said for less is more .

Thank you all for your suggestions! I never thought to do nothing. I took everything away and it feels so empty but I am refreshing my vision to see what you see. This space is a transition space from entry hall to family room across from a staircase and I was treating as an entry wall space. I like the ideas of a simple sconce or a simple tall plant. Thank you all so much!!

I think the wall already has its purpose; its a doorbell and light switch wall. You might augment its utilitarian purpose by hanging a set of hooks for keys that's in a style appropriate to the family room decor.

The mirror is coming down but this will give you a better idea of the space.

Very pretty home. My vote is empty. That photo is even more convincing. I would also take down the two paintings opposite. The walls seem too crowded to me.

Every inch of your home doesn’t need to be crammed with stuff. You need to internalize the concept of negative space.

Give your eyes some places where they can simply rest, otherwise rooms start to feel busy and cluttered. A good "rule of thumb" for putting things on a wall is to ask if the wall is large enough. The hanging piece should be no wider than 75% of the wall space available. Then, can the piece or grouping be centered 5' above the floor? If yes, then it "may" work. If there are switches, vents, etc. preventing proper centering at that level, best rethink the whole thing. Perhaps the best improvement you can make to the foyer is to lower the light fixture and add a beautiful runner. How does the light actually present to the street view? It doesn't look like it does much in the way of lighting the foyer or adding some beauty there. A rug will bring the interest down and you won't feel compelled to fill all the walls with something.

I agree -it can be hard to figure out when to use negative space. I've found what works for me is to take photos of my space. For some reason, looking at my room in a photo versus IRL makes a huge difference. I can't figure out why though. Maybe a pro could explain.

First off...Beautiful home. At first blush I would say leave the wall space blank. You already have several lovely pieces of art for the eye to enjoy. However, if you would like to add an element of outdoors, find a lovely faux or real tree/plant that won't overwhelm the space. Take your time with this decision and Happy Decorating!
