Kathy Ann Azaleas Help!

Hi everyone,
I planted to Kathy Ann Azaleas about 2 months or so ago. The first photo is when I first planted them and the second third photo is how they look now.
Initially they had many buds and some were already bloomed. about 3 weeks ago all of the flowers had died so I deadheaded them carefully only removing the dead flower. Ever since then there are no new flowers. Was I not supposed to dead head them? I'm a beginner so I can't tell if those brown areas in the middle are buds or should I just pull them off?
I've added miracle grow for Azaleas fertilizer, watered every couple of days and soil acidifier as my soil is very alkaline (8.0 pH).
what do you think? What other action should I take so that my azaleas will flower again?
Thanks guys!
Cindy
