Chris and Brian are really great. I was there a couple of weeks ago. You should have taken a few pictures of the hillside beds that really shows the depth and scope of this operation. Hi woodnative, I have to tell you I am very new to collecting Hostas. When we first walked down that hill I tried to take pictures of the labels and than the plant. But if you are not alone it’s really hard because one wants to show the other one a plant and you get distracted. Sometimes there where no labels with the plants and we had to ask Chris.

However we did notice and I think Ken said that before Chris has a lot of plants that aren’t listed on the webpage or printed in his book. We found plants and tried to find out how much they are and they weren’t there.

What i likes about the visit was that not only was Chris very patient with us it also really went way beyond finding a plant my husband would like. He was looking for something “blue” but since he is not into hostas he couldn’t quite describe what he wanted so Chris went up and down that hill with my husband to find him a plant he liked.

Hei Miles... hm !! I am sure you are right! Sometimes there where like 3 sticks with names close to the plant but in this particular shot I am certain that was the only stick at that plant. I made sure taking the photo because I want to get it next tone.

but in general ... a seller has to have a certain number of stock.. to list for sale ... and when they have less than that.. they dont list it ... for example.. maybe they have to have 20 for such .... peeps can get irritated if you dont have half of an order .... so dont list them ...

and that is why.. you should always ask about a to die for plant.. a seller might have one .... and you win ..

another trick .... take a ballpoint pen with you.. and simply write the name on the back of the tallest leaf .... and the name will be there for the rest of the year ...

OMGosh! Just out in the open like that? SO beautiful. Is there a huge fence around the whole property to keep deer out? That was my first thought.

Hi Ladypat1 it’s so nice there. Chris said there is next to his land a area where they get a lot of water. The plants did so well. I was very taken also by his Ligularia and hellebores! Big, big plants. Those and Astilbes are on my shopping list next
