geraniums that won't flower.

Last fall I put my geraniums in boxes for the winter. In January I planted them in pots, watered them, fertilizered them , placed them in a south window. When the wreather warmed up, I planted them outside. The plants had a lot of leaves, but from January to May, they did not have any flower buds start. In May, I discovered a box with a large geramium in it, which I had forgotten about and did not see when I took out the other plants. I literally took the plant out and stuck it in last years dirt, thinking it wouldn't amount to much but guess what; it came to life and now has about 10 blossoms on it. The rest of the plants still do not have any flowers on them, only leaves. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do to get them to flower. I can't believe the difference in the plants. The ones I fussed with have no flowers and the one I just stuck in the dirt is doing great. Thanks for any info you can give me. Sandra.
