What is your style since this is so not your style? Just wondering that even if you make a few changes are you going to be happy with it or would it be better for you to hold off until you have a larger budget to make changes that will be more of your style? Or at least wait a yr to give you some time to collect exterior ideas that will make your happier with the house than just doing a few things now.

It's tough moving out of a house that you redid and love and some times we need a mourning period to get over that house before we can become energized and excited about our new house.. some times you just have to step back and give it time.

The roof over the entry should be angled and square like the windows. I’d also lose the eyebrows over the garage doors and do same. A portico style entry might also work.

You might have to hire an architect. My idea would be to try to convert entry into a porch with columns. Would make a more open space. But something that structural probably requires a professional. Agree with tedbixby to live with it for a while before making changes, especially if you have a limited budget. Frustrating but true.

I like the very dark siding paired w/cedar accents, dark windows and some stone work.

is there anyway you could do away w/the 2 small garage doors and just make it a double? those small doors look out of proportion on this size house

make it a one opening for a double door and bring in something like this

if you can't, then at least replace the doors with something that will 'visually' enlarge it

Plan to get rid of any arched or curved feature. Let an architect devise a new facade at the entry. The garage doors appear to be tiny. Do you like the paint color? That is a big job but will make the biggest difference. Consider eliminating all the clumpy shrubs choking the house. Loosen up the beds to be more airy and contemporary.

Pretty house but very strong current style, farmhouse maybe. Can you say what your surroundings are like? I agree painting would be a big job but would make a huge difference.

If you the paint route.. these are my favorites at the moment.

I agree with squaring out the entrance and losing the eyebrows over the garage doors. If you can, I would replace the arched window with a single lite transom over the double doors, which should be clean and modern as well. Sage greens and other colors found in nature usually look best on contemporary homes.

Do you have a skylight in the entry?

If yes, keep that in mind as you make any changes.

If not, you might consider changing the roofline over the entry into a forward facing gable.

Add some stone....along the foundation..maybe around the arched entry...the house just lacks the rich elegant finishes ...details that say high-end...as is ...it just sort of feels a little basic...with lots of potential....trying to change the style is a way more than just a few little fixes....

Wider trims at the roof lines?

Upgrade the garage doors to one opening with a more impressive door?

Paint all the trims... garage door.... navy or another sharply contrasting color ...?

Remove all the heavy shrubs against the house?

Add a border to widen and beautify the walkway..?

Same with the driveway..?

The shingles don’t seem to match with the house. Changing them to a brown color would help the look of the home if they are old and in need of replacement.
