You have quite the mix of different colors and textures all over the front of your home. The most distracting elements from your front door are: the faux stone on your portico, the rustic posts, the window with grids, the too small light, the storm door and the front door. All of that busyness conflicts with the brick and with what could be a very lovely home. Is the dormer a faux dormer?

The very best thing to do is remove the conflicting elements from your home:

1. Remove the faux dormer.
2. Remove the faux stone on the portico. Use siding instead. BTW, stone isn't suppose to be floating in the air like that, it's an oxymoron.
3. Beef up the portico posts and paint them the trim color.
4. Add a much larger light.
5. Change your front door so it is a solid panel door without the Victorian styled oval window you now have in your current door. Paint it an accent color. White would work well and it would also serve to blend your storm door in with the front door.
6. Landscaping. Meet with a landscape designer at a local nursery to come up with an attractive plan for your home.

You have good bones for the house, someone just added too much all over the front so it is time to make those changes.

Mostly, I agree with Denita. Your house is charming but overloaded with different materials. I wouldn't paint the shutters white, they already look great. Rather I would match the front door color with them. Adding colorful pots of flowers will enhance your exterior and add a welcoming touch. Why your storm door can't be removed?

Thanks for the feedback! The dormer is the only source of natural light to the upstairs loft so we’ll leave that. I like the idea of a more simplistic door and would love to beef up those columns. I’m not crazy about the white but like the idea of matching the shutters, door and columns to each other. Thinking a really deep brown or maybe even black? @TheDoorsDepot, we leave the front door open and use that storm door a lot for extra light and breeze. I’m open to either painting the storm door to match door. Is that possible or should I stick to just buying a new storm door in a darker color?

You can just paint the storm door not change, charcoal color for the front door will look amazing I consider.

I have to apologize to you Zabitat. In my previous comment, since deleted, I thought you were suggesting oval doors. You weren't. You were showing "before's" and "after's". Good that you can use the existing door and just modify the glass shape to something more appropriate.
