Is the awning sun or rain protection or both? Where is it from?

I like the idea of a rain cover that is retractable like that.

Greetings, this product looks like it was designed for use with shade, but might be able to "handle" some rain. Unless it lockes into place when projected, the weight of the water could pull the fabric crossbars together, rendering the space vulnerable. Durasol Awnings has products specifically designed for rain/wind; as well as some that are sun-only.

It is a sun shade only. It extends out with a manual rod, into a positive stop. It is spring load and will automatically retract in strong winds. Thanks so much for your inquiry.
