I like the way you show the TV in relation to the bed...maybe because that's the way we did ours. :-) DK if there's enough room for a chair placed at an angle towards the door on the empty side of the room. Looks like you've got it well in hand already, with or without a chair.

thanks redoredone! I was thinking the same thing about the chair but thought I'd wait until the essentials are in to get a better feel of the room. right now I'm in a holding period as I'm waiting for the floors to be laid and furniture to be delivered.

This is easy - where will you be viewing TV from most of the time? If you are adding more seating (you have only one chair) then you may need to consider another position but if viewing from your bed - yes, straight in front of it, centered. Be sure however, that you frame in the TV on that wall in some creative way. As a designer, I always make sure you do not see the TV setting against a bare wall. No matter how you hide the cords, they are viewable and unsightly when you enter the room (as drawn on your floor plan). Good luck!

good point Camille. the wires will be "hidden" in the wall but because of where you enter you will see behind the TV. I will have to put some thought into that. thanks

Another thing to consider is if you have drapery panels on the window. Will there be a panel next to the TV? There isn't a lot of wall space as shown. If you do intend to frame the window with panels, it could be only on the far side. The rug size looks good to me. Keep in mind to rotate the rug often, monthly is preferred, to keep an even wear pattern. There should also be a rug pad underneath, they wear out from the bottom up. Great job on the 2D layout!

the area by the TV is the closest doors, not a window so luckily drapery is not an issue. right now I have Roman blinds on the window behind the bed post. not sure if I will keep that or change to drapes. we had the Roman shades because they were thick and darkened the room almost completely as my husband worked shifts. he is steady daylight now so I could probably change to light and airy drapes.

Make sure the TV is high enough so that you can see it over your toes when you lie down.

thanks Dan. any suggestions on height? I have a queen size bed, regular matress, no pillowtop. I've tried to find a diagram specific to bedrooms but not having any luck
