If a rectangular room layout is beyond your capabilities are you sure you can navigate from your home to work each day?

You could easily change out the sofa and two chairs for a small sectional if that is your reference. This plans makes the room appearance spacious and allows those in chairs to view the large screen TV on the opposite wall.

Even though it is called living/dining it is really only living. You can eat at the peninsula but there is no space for a table.

A longer sofa if it's placed on the window wall. A shorter sofa like 84" if it's placed on the short end of the rug. Don't select a sofa or chairs that are overly deep. Use an 8x10 rug in the room.

Don't use the HOUZZ app. Posting and commenting on the computer is much easier and allows you to edit and delete.

Here is a photo of an open plan like yours.

Position the sofa against the 126" wall; add rug just for that area, with coffee table, two chairs and front legs on rug.

TV on 108" wall.

The layouts above are good. You may want to purchase a coffee table that raises up to dining table height for the times you may want dinner guests or need a table to work on.
