I have seen more patterns together. I like yours which have 3 different sizes - maybe reduce / eliminate other kinds of tile in rest of room.

If it's too late, then there's nothing you can do and hopefully you'll enjoy it. (I actually would have not done the horizontal band since I love a full marble shower with no break). You don't need more design with marble. Less is more. The stone is enough on it's own. But like you said, too late so nothing you can do....

Once it's all in, it will be nice. Keep the grout light, and I agree with everdebz above, don't do anything too busy on the main flooring....

I would have used only the large tiles with no mosaic band. However, it's not terrible. As far as lightening things up, make sure nothing else is dark. What are your floors, cabinets and countertop? Paint color?

Each person is different in terms of "business" they like.

For more permanent elements, like tile, I almost always recommend simplicity. You can always add what you want in terms of decor.

People often don't understand that a busy tile will be amplified, once in place, simply because there are more tiles.

I imagine more of this tile will be in other areas of your bathroom also? Keep that in mind.

Left out? When you want a marble bath, an anything but plain white subway ceramic, you order a sample box and check veining and color, and variation and all.. Marble comes from the EARTH. There are no guarantees without a lot check by sample box order.

Did you even open all boxes for a check before the install? Maybe not? That is how you avoid........

Repeat: Test before a final order. Open all tile before install. ..............yes. Avoid the WAH.

You are overthinking. It looks good. Wait until grout, it can completely change the look. Wet grout and dry grout makes a difference.

I don't get why people feel compelled to insert an accent stripe. That seems like painting a stripe around the wall in your living room. It will date your bath (or already has). There are so many other "accents" that could be used that aren't semi-permanent and expensive to replace.

Marina, I agree that the horizontal band is the problem. I know that you're trying your best to make do, but I personally would take out the band now and replace it with the marble. Yes, it's going to cost more money and take time, but you are always going to be less than satisfied if you don't fix the problem.

Here's another thread of someone who had regrets at the same stage. She was able to fix the problem and ended up with a much better overall look. In your case, I would just go with the marble all of the way to ceiling and not add any horizontal band whatsoever.

You cannot remove the stripe and add marble, as the pattern will not be contiguous.

If you take out the band and just use the other stone cut fit to size, It will stand out less and tone down the look.

Are you leaving out a niche for shampoo, etc? Maybe remove a section of the glass tile and replace with long horizontal wall niche?

I think what you have looks fine! I like the “pattern” in the shower tlle. I know experts are saying “no” and “dated” to bands of smaller tiles, but I put one in my master bath during reno and still like it. Frankly, I think anything we do now will be considered “dated” 10 years from now.

You're overthinking it. The band is just one small part of the design. Once everything else is in place, it will be fine.

Photo #1 is not photo #2 without the accent stripe. Photo 1 is much less busy and lighter overall.

It matter not what any of us on here like or don't like. It matters what you like. I can tell you for resale, #1 will be better now and overtime.

You have stated you like #1 better. Just reading your voice through this, I don't think you'll never be happy with the existing tile. That is what I am hearing. Tell me if I am wrong.

Are you installing the tile yourself? Either way, how much would it cost you to take this down and replace it? What would you estimate your loss would be? I have found that paying a little now for a long-term benefit pays off.

Think of it this way.....if you moved into this house today and had this tile and didn't like it.....would you replace it? Does it matter if you or the previous homeowner put it in?

Youll be far less likely to go astray in a stone or tile shop. Spouse or partner involved? Agree together and commit to it. The stories here all in someway involving going astray on a path ? Have to be a million of them.
