Sheer linen or patterned curtains would add softness to the room, as would some actual color other than gray and taupe. Also, make up the bed in a more interesting manner. Fold the duvet in thirds, so you see the blanket and the top sheet. Perhaps also add a bedskirt.

The heavy, dark and matched furniture is overwhelming the space. I would lose the wood bed for upholstered headboard plain and simple, in a light color, UN match the mirror over the dresser. Go bedding shopping, Paint. Yank up those mini blinds and retake photo, right after you change the fan to a simple white with no light kit. : ) add a lamp to the dresser.

The room feels a little dark and heavy to me. I agree that changing the mirror would be a good start. Adding a metallic mirror would add a bit of light to the dresser area.

Is the bed positioned opposite the entry door? That location will promote secure and restful sleep. I agree, the furniture is too bulky and dark. In addition, the lamps are too light and flimsy for the furniture. Do you want to work with the furniture or use the lamps to guide the purchase of new furniture? Have you considered painting the furniture? Selecting bedding around which to decorate the room might be a good place to start.
