Zkathy, yes, I could have been more clear. I meant, I'd like a mix of coloring of mostly large hostas, but seldom end up with dark edge and lighter center. Either I don't see as many DELC, or I can't break my habit of buying the opposite. Awesome pics. My GG has only 2 leaves. What a looker.

cearbhaill, How did you know DH is a Trekki? Excellent, he will be almost be happy to dig a hole for those. I had DW once, I'll have to try again now that I have some sprinklers set up.

Madplanter, uuu, some good ones too. SDM is gorgeous. I fit a few smaller ones in, but they can get lost. EP, HB, JE all great. Had LSSM, but died. Try again.

Thank all of you so much. I'm going to a Hosta Tailgate this weekend in Columbus, Ohio. Each of the open gardens will have vendors, and they will have the club auction, so I might find some of these in one trip. Keep your fingers crossed. Regardless, it will be a fantastic weekend.

Thanks for the info on the Tailg8. I went to a few gardens a couple years ago and really enjoyed it. I haven't made it to the dinner and auction (yet). I would have missed this if you hadn't posted. I think you should add a new thread for this. Perhaps I should get around to joining one of my local Hosta societies.

Steve, I hope you can enjoy part or all of Tailg8 this year. I joined 2 clubs 3 years ago and glad I did. I wish there was more trading, but at least I had GardenWeb years ago.

I also am drawn to light edge dark centered hostas.Unfortunately my Captain Kirk did not survive the terrible spring we had. I will need to get another and also look for an Enterprise and if I keep delaying getting Andrew, it will never grow to the lovely size that Connie's is!

Thanks Lindalana! I bought Smash Hit on an impulse because I loved the leaves...I had already purchased Forbidden Fruit that summer so had no reason to buy one that looks so similar. No regrets - Smash Hit is a much better grower - and I think it will continue to improve with maturity.

Deb, we are kindred spirits, I just keep getting drawn to light edges. Funny thing is when shopping, I'll say uuuu, I don't have one like that! lol. Made myself a note at top of my spreadsheet. "Dark Edge/ Light Center". Hope it helps.

I just figured out that your description of desired hostas in the title is different from the one in the body of your post. I went back and reread the post multiple times, because I couldn’t figure out why everyone was recommending the opposite of what I thought you had requested.

I came across Andrew planted in front of Hans in a garden this weekend, and while not the best comparison (Andrew is obviously older/better sited (more sun, less roots) I'm posting the pic anyway. Hans is already misting green here while the little guy in my garden is still clear white.
