I'm not sure..I'm not sure where to find out/where they record that kind of thing. One issue is that the nearest city (Saskatoon) which is 100km away, has had MUCH more rain than we have, so anything recorded for "our area" is likely not accurate for us. We are in an awful weather pocket where it pours 10-15 min away, and we only get a few drops.

I know that we have only had 1 1/4 inches of rain TOTAL since the snow melted. Plus lots of 30 above days and wind. It's awful, our trees leaves are turning yellow and they'll definitely be dropping some of them soon. Our canola is limping along. Last summer was very similar for us. We had some residual moisture from previous wet years though, which helped the crops etc. But this year, all that has been used up. We had very little snow over winter.

It's especially frustrating because, while lots of SK is on the drier side, the intense drought we are experiencing is quite localized.

EDIT - I found out the precipitation for 2018 so far, for Watrous which is a town 15 min away. They have gotten a number of thunderstorms/downpours this year that passed us by. Anyway, their precipitation thus far this year has been 135 mm. We would be a couple inches worth of rain below that. So that gives you an idea of how dry we are! Edmonton may be dry-ish, but believe me...it can be MUCH worse!

Peace River is at about 322mm of precip for the year from July 2017 which is about 70mm less than average. However...we’ve only had about 90mm of rain since April (only 9mm in May!), which is about 60-70% of normal. It’s certainly quite dry here even with the heavy rains we’ve received in the last three weeks.

Heavy rains don't help. They run off....I remember when spring had 10 days of 24hrs of light rain in may. I can't remember the last day in 5 years when I have seen it rain for 24hrs without stopping.

I was at my jobsite the other day thinking to myself....its windy almost every single day, and extremely windy. Its hotter than normal. We have been very hot many days. And there is no normal rain anymore. Dirty 30's?

I was thinking the same thing. We have the wind issue here too. It's almost always windy here and some days are just windier. And we've had extreme heat early in the year. My flowers are ahead but the vegetables are behind. As far as rain goes, we've probably now averaged out to normal but it all comes in downpours. Very few "rainy days", but days with downpours of 20-30 mms.

Is this the new weather? I remember seeing a description of what was expected in a changing climate and for us they said we should expect loads of extremes and thats what we get. Half the province is in drought and the other half is swimming every single year. Winter is either way above average or cold as hell but typically we get both extremes now every winter. Maybe this is just how its always been but I remember summer being much more predictable where you would expect a good number of full light rain days every year and now I can barely count the number on one hand over six months.
