Might be helpful to see a photo - experts might know without a photo. Is small island sufficient room to eat a meal?

It hasn’t been built yet but this is what it will resemble. Except 5 ft long., with a 36” cabinet underneath. Our current kitchen table is smaller so it will be more than sufficient. We do have a dining room as well.

why just one pendant and not a series of three like in the photo?

The pendant doesn’t really need to be very big....but it should give enough overall light...the island is pretty small so two small pendants may look more in proportion than one big one....be sure there are enough watts of light and maybe a clear glass bulb fixture type will light the area better

How many people will be eating there regularly?....the 5’ length will only seat two comfortably ...especially if the is one seat on the ends......also since you will probably want to use the island while working in the kitchen for other things...it will be a good idea to select lightweight stools that are easy to move out of the way when needed....plus have space to set them aside .....stools with no backs that will tuck under the island completely will give the best easy access for other uses
