Finished basement sewing room

I thought I would share a couple of pictures of the finished room. I am quite pleased with how it turned out. As I tell my children, nothing is nailed down so may get tweaked as I use the space. The cupboards used to be along the long back wall and were designed with open spaces for the children to do their homework. They each had a cupboard for their things. In the tear-down, the boxes were placed at the end wall for the time being and they looked good there, so we decided to leave them there. The shelving is the rubbermaid wire kind, well secured to the wall to hold all those bins. I am still going through them to purge a bit more.

i have two machines, actually three but the smaller Pfaff, I will leave upstairs to maybe work at the kitchen table. The little bed under the cutting table is a doll bed my father made for me many moons ago. I will use it to hold finished quilts or WIPs. And the flooring is vinyl plank, easy to clean up all those threads and bits.

This is the other end of the room. I used to have those shelves along the back wall, over the cupboards, filled with books. But I did a major cleanout and the thrift store did well. This was also the space where the large chest freezer was. We replaced that with an upright and were able to use this space for the shelves and one more cupboard. I am still playing with where or how to place the ironing board. That will sort itself out easily.

Woohoo, it's finished! Congratulations on getting your space back! And what a great, large space you have. You need a longarm in there. :) :)

What a wonderful space and even more wonderful feeling to have YOUR sewing space once again...it looks heavenly! I finished my sewing room redo, but the tweaking continues...half the fun, I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I do!

I hope you received my message about the delay in shipping the June blocks? The funeral was yesterday, so I hope to get those shipped to you by the end of this week.

Just a PS. This is the back half of the basement. My original space was in the front half and I had less than a third of this space. So I am so grateful to be able to move.

no longarms, Donna. I did think about it, but I am a bit old to learn how to use it and I only do small quilts. A cousin, who quilts, talked about a longarm and then decided she could have a lot of work done by a LAQ, for the price of the machine. I was hoping she would get one and then she could be my new best friend. LOL

What a great sewing area, Theresa. I'm so jealous. I'd love to have a big space to put two tables together like you have. I still use the floor for sandwiching and block layout. I guess I'm happy I have a big enough floor space for that. Congratulations on getting your room finished. I hope you enjoy it for many years to come - and no more floods!

Love it and love the size, also the colors, same colors that I have, white and light blue.

It is actually a light green/blue. My whole main floor is this colour, so we just carried it down. I like it! Obviously!
