I had a tree cut down, but kept the trunk and am growing a clematis on it. Tree branches are growing back and interfering with other perennials I planted around the tree. Is there something I can put on the tree to kill it without killing the plants around it? Pics attached. The closer pic shows branches growing under the chicken wire with larger leaves than on the clematis.
