Pagoda plants are hummingbird and butterfly magnets! Here in northern FL they will die back to the ground on really cold winters but come back in the spring.

I think Pagoda plants are beautiful, too! However, I'm cautious with all-things-Clerodendrum... almost all of them spread by underground runners... some are worse than others. Pagoda is slightly less aggressive, but I still keep mine in a pot with a saucer underneath. (I keep my Clerodendrum bungeii in a pot with two saucers underneath!)

I had Pagoda plants in north central Florida (9a) and they preferred morning sun and afternoon shade. As Bea said, they are butterfly and hummingbird magnets. Mine died back after a hard freeze but reliably each spring. They do send out runners but they are very easy to pull out.

Here in SW Florida (10a), where I have little shade and consistent hot weather (very rare to get a freeze) they don't seem to get as full and lush or spread as much. But, they never die back and do get huge.
