End it at the cabinet. The extra bit of floating tile sticks out like a sore thumb. Same as on the range side.

For the window, you can go to the ceiling or end the tile a few inches up the cabinet. I'm not a fan of subway over a window unless it's a large period kitchen with a lot of subway where a small untiled area would look odd. I would bring the tile up to the center of the second row from the top of window glass because I'd want it to end centered on the glass, not on a horizontal line.

In that photo, there are 17" of space past the end of the upper cabinet to the end of the counter. How much space do you have? In photo it looks less.

That's a different circumstance because there's a natural stopping point with the door frame.

There are lots of photos of awkward tile placement where it extends beyond cabinets. It looks amateur and dated. You can search for peninsulas on Houzz and find some of those examples.

They should have added another cabinet.
