I wouldn't assume that you brought it in with the plant from Lowe's. Sorry, but my hunch is that you live in an area where this species has become entrenched. These insects would be found outside in your location, making occasional excursions into homes.....call your local UF/IFAS extension to inquire about it.

Of course, Lowe's or any other place that sells plants, potting soil, and mulch are breeding grounds for this introduced species. Maybe the extension people will tell you to call them to complain.

These pests are plant eaters, by the way.

I inspected the peace lily and found no evidence of them...yes I bet they are outside and wandered in. I’m glad they do not prefer the indoors! Thanks for the info

Is it fear that affects ones sense of beauty? I feel a little kindly toward this type little cockroach that bumbles slowly along. I go into battle when I see a larger, fast moving type that might fly at me... they are soooo ugly!

I see them in my yard all the time. Whenever I dump a bucket of water on the ground one will come up to the top of the grass. That's why my chicken follows me when I'm working outside. She loves her treats.

The little green ones are positively elegant.

If you look a cockroach straight in the face and don't know it's a cockroach, they are kind of cute. Not earwig cute, but still pretty cute. Not like those creepy butterfly faces. Ugg!
