Planting Fields - very sweet. There are only a couple of Historic Parks in the NY State Parks system so they are special places. I work at one at the other end of NY State from Planting Fields.

fatamorgana2121, that's very cool! I only recently discovered Planting Fields and have an Empire Pass, so I'll be sure to return there. It is really lovely to walk the the trails and there are hardly any tourists.

They're edible in the sense that they won't hurt you. But I really wouldn't bother unless I was starving. It's not just the taste. The texture is like eating a small pinch of wet grit.
