Fresh eating rot !!!! to me.

How bad of rot is fresh eating rot. Can it be saved?

I checked that post, but my cutting is not that brown or wrinkled. It is still quite hard and when I cut it, the tissue was green and there was lots of sap. I let it callous for a week before planting. I'm just unsure about the black areas on the stem because they seem to only be on the surface. But like you said, it could still be rot. I just don't know how to tell whether it's rot or not. Also, the black area isn't soft.

But before you cut it. do the pin test. stick the pin into the black area, if you see white sap coming out, maybe sunburn ( I do not think so).

Is this cutting rooted good? are there leafs on the top? how often water this cutting? Do not water during rooting, it will rot.

I just planted it Saturday. I haven't watered since, but because I live in Texas, the soil is already dry. I will do the pin test and see what happens.

I just preformed the pin test in the black area and white sap came out immediately.

Don’t worry, just a lil discoloration. Mark the perimeter or use this pic as reference to see if it’s spreading. It’s looking totally normal to me.
