Not an expert but At first look, the thin margin and the semi upright growth habit reminded me of Francee but it has too much colour.

Did it emerge bright yellow? Looks like my St. Elmo’s Fire does this time of year?

No I don't recall it emerging bright yellow. It has always been this small though. Also I do have Francee and I believe it is too small for that. I also don't think it's ever flowered. Hmmm....

Could be Moonlight? (white-edged Gold Standard, so still out of Fortunei heritage) Not a strong grower. Saint Elmo's Fire is pretty similar.

According to hosta library, Moonlight is a large hosta. These leaves stay the same color all season and as I said I don't recall it ever flowering. Perhaps I need to relocate them to some sun. Both get deep shade all day.

these plants are in year 2 of the 5 years it will take for them to mature.. and look like the plants in the pix i posted ...

moonlight is a very easy grower ... for me anyway .. back in the day ... its a gold standard sport .... and should easily be the same size potential ,..

now.. all that said ... i might not be moonlight .... its been a long time.. since i could ID hosta by sight ...

Thanks to everyone for help! I have had these hostas for years--believe I have a third one too, and they have not grown nor flowered, ever. I am thinking of removing them and planting more desired hostas. They are rather blah. I know that is hosta swearing but.......

djacob, if you have had them for years and they don't flower and don't grow, then there is some deficiency. Too much shade for example or too little nutrients. Are these planted where there is a lot of root competition for nutrients or maybe where the rain doesn't fall? Are they in very deep shade with no sun?

They are both in deep shade. One hosta is near a lilac bush/small tree and the other is in an area where there are other hostas. That one is in the front yard with many, many other hostas all under the shade of a red maple. However, all of the other hostas are doing well. Maybe I will relocate the three of them where they will get more sun ad see what happens.
