Bosch speed oven VS. any micro draw

Spending $1,500 for just a microwave (warm, defrost) seems silly. Who has a Bosch speed oven?? Opinion? Its the same price as a regular micro and speed oven does more. Cooks, toasts, MICROWAVES, etc.... I was going to put it below the counter. Thoughts?

Bosch is on elf my favourite brands , but not their speed oven. Get the advantium in the higher power level.

I have a Bosch speed oven. Has many good uses but the sensor settings are disappointing. I would check other speed oven brands. I use it as an oven, broiler or microwave - which I'm happy with.

I went through the same debate, except the drawer microwave was almost $2,000 (Wolf), not $1,500, which to me was crazy to spend that much on a microwave. I was debating between the Miele speed oven and the drawer microwave, the Miele is supposed to be one of the best speed ovens, much superior to the Bosch BTW (but that's a separate discussion).

Ended up just going with the microwave drawer for our needs, we most reheat quickly and make popcorn. Plus a speed oven I decided I would rather have at chest height, not under the counter (same height as a built in coffee maker), but that's just personal preference. (I believe there's a separate discussion elsewhere on that as well)

Advantium cannot be installed below the counter, btw.

    Karen Eagle:

So you like your bosch speed oven as a broiler, oven, and microwave? But it just isnt a "speed" oven?

I was considering a speed oven (24") instead of a drawer microwave. The main benefit I see (though it would be inconvenient to use since its being mounted below the counter and I am 6'6") is that we could get rid of our toaster oven which is something we would love to have off the counter. I could buy a regular pop-up toaster that easily stores in a cabinet or in the pantry for proper toast, but we often use the toaster oven for making a small batch of nachos, or reheating some sort of leftover (I hate microwaves).....I only use the microwave to melt butter but my wife uses it to nuke frozen veggies for our son.

Anyway, from your comment it sounds like it might be a great choice for us, if its an effective small oven, and an effective microwave?

We are planning double full size wall ovens so we dont need it as a backup oven...just a smaller oven that heats more quickly (due to the smaller space) for when you're just warming up a piece of chicken or keeping eggplant warm while you fry the next batch...

If you are getting double ovens, I wouldn't get the Bosch Speed Oven. It takes long to preheat and the purpose of the speed oven is to be able to use preset settings, (i.e.:making potatoes) but the speed settings are awful. Some of the programmed settings I use are for frozen foods, melting butter and popcorn. I mostly use this as a second oven and for reheating (manually entering time) and keeping things warm when preparing large meals. I also have a regular microwave that I use.

I also don't like that it opens like an oven, not to the side like a regular microwave. My full size oven is a Bosch, side opening oven that I am very happy with. The speed oven is on top of the regular oven. I hope this helps. I'll be happy to answer any specific questions you may have.
