Japanese maple plant

Hello, I recently purchased a tamukeyama japanese maple on clearence from Lowes and the leaves seem to be turning red early which I read that it is a sign of distress for the plant. When I got the plant the leaves were burnt already but I feel that I could certainly bring it back to glory. What can I do?! I am new to gardening and would love some insight.

In some trees, as the concentration of sugar in the leaf increases, the sugar reacts to form anthocyanins and these pigments cause the yellowing leaves to turn red.

Thanks for the information Ridley! I initially had the tree in the front yard which gave it sun all day. I moved it to a more shady area of the backyard in hopes to bring it back to health.
