A lot does depend on the rest of your home - landscaping and roof colour in particular. Off the top of my head, SW Iron Ore is pretty, which is a soft black. I would do the storm door the same and no, the interior definitely doesn't need to be the same as the outside! Nope, the inside of the door should coordinate with the rest of the colors inside. The outside should coordinate with those colors.

Red front door. I would remove the shutters too. They are too small for your windows and your window style is not suited for shutters.

I like the idea of you painting your front door red! That's the color of my front door so that it coordinates with the exterior of the house. Inside of that door is painted black to go with the entryway and living room.

No, not too plain without shutters. I would beef up the window trim. Let me see if I can find something similar to show you. I don't know how to photoshop to show you what it would look like.

Beef up landscaping and you won't notice shutter disappearance. All of the front door should be painted your chosen color, including the now white portion. Your house looks like many in our town. I'll notice them more and maybe send some ideas.
