Funny you should ask. Just yesterday I threw in some grains of MG. Not sure if I am suppose to. should I ?

Anything grown in a container will need regular fertilization. Unless you use a fertilizer-enriched potting soil (seldom recommended), most contain NO nutrients at all and so must be supplied by the grower. Typically the recommendation is a liquid or fully water soluble fert mixed at half strength and applied weekly for any annual planting.

If you want to go organic, fish emulsion works in containers. Otherwise use a synthetic liquid fertilizer for leafy plants. I like Dynagro products.

Thanks to the good advice I received here my basil is now dark green again and looking great. I gave it some liquid fertilizer and that was the answer.
