Hello! I got directed over here from design dilemma and hope someone can help.

I bought a used table and chairs set for pretty cheap, but this one chair is cracked in the back. I am looking for suggestions on the best way to repair it so I don't have to glue it back every few months like the previous owners.

The side posts are fine but the decorative caning has a crack across the whole thing. I can slide it back together but when we sit in it, the bottom half gets pushed out. I was thinking of trying Gorilla Glue and maybe it would expand some to create a better seal between the pieces. ??

I also brainstormed some kind of tape/string to wrap around the caning to help hold it together. I will be painting it at some point so maybe I could mask it so it's not too noticeable. Open to ideas & suggestion! Thanks!
